Sweden's biggest music competition celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Over the past decade Idol has cultivated the talents of countless artists and engaged millions of viewers. The celebration continues throughout the fall and culminates in the star-blazing finale on December 5 at the Ericsson Globe, where the winner will be crowned. As icing on top, TV4 has invited pop boy band One Direction.
- It's a dream to be able to present One Direction as guest artists while celebrating Idol's 10th year, Pelle Porseryd, executive producer of Swedish Idol at TV4, says.
The last time One Direction played in Sweden they sold out Friends Arena twice. The performance during the Idol finale is the band's only scheduled gig in Sweden for the foreseeable future.
- We will offer a world-class finale, and One Direction feels like the perfect preparation when we will elect the winner of Idol 2014, Pelle continues.
The Idol finale will be broadcast live by TV4 and will be accessible for international viewers on TV4Play.se
Tickets for the Swedish Idol finale at the Ericsson Globe on December 5 will be released on Monday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased through www.axs.com.
